  • Instead of taking their profits, why not just cut their subsidies?

  • Geistjagerin: Because that would make too much sense and it would take power/control away from the government and our all knowing and all wise politicians and government. (OK the last part about all knowing and all wise politicians and government was sarcasm)

Some bureaucrats would loose their jobs if nonsensical subsidies were cut. I think it would be a good thing if some bureaucrats lost their jobs.

  • Geistjagerin: Subsidies can build dependency on the government, thusly increasing the government's control and ability direct pork to political constituents and districts to pander for votes. Unfortunately ALL political parties play these games.

  • It's definitely some kind of NWO scheme to conveniently use corn as fuel so as to politely starve (depopulate) millions of people around the world and drive up food prices. Anyone of those ethanol producers knows that sugar beets produces more ethanol than corn per acre and the production costs would be far less.

There has to be some kind of integrity/morality gene. And we desperately need to find it.

  • Profits are good and big business can be a good thing, it is the fact that big oil made the USA dependent on the oil and they control all of the USA and you. If they shut off oil tomorrow the USA crashes. They are a business and did what a business do, make profits. You can't be upset about it. It is how and the manner in which they do it that makes me upset. There is no supply and demand, there is supply or die. We just have no choice but to pay what they ask for the fuel.

  • So, how long before the nuts show up to slam the evil oil companies with invective, illogic, and emotional appeals constructed from whole cloth...?

  • After we soak the oil companies to the point gas goes to $10/gl, it will become economically feasible to render down bloated leftist gasbags like Michael Moore for their valuable hydogenated blubber.

  • Same rhetoric we hear from liberals regarding big corps. They miss the empirical & obvious point that these big corps r giving jobs to millions of people. Liberals wud rather see big corps, go under; then leaving the corps alone, to do what they do best: make money. I work in the insurance ind & I'm sick of hearing the same flack "Ins companies r only in business to make money." Huh, yeah; that's the point, is it not? Isn't that the point why anyone goes into business? To make money?
