The Beatles visited Rishikesh in India in 1968 to attend an advanced Transcendental Meditation (TM) training session at the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Amidst widespread media attention, their stay at the ashram was one of the band's most productive periods. Their adoption of the Maharishi as their guru is credited with changing attitudes in the West about Indian spirituality, and encouraging the study of Transcendental Meditation.[1] The Beatles first met the Maharishi in London in August 1967 and then attended a seminar in Bangor, Wales. Although planned to be a 10-day session, their stay was cut short by the death of their manager, Brian Epstein. Wanting to learn more, they kept in contact with the Maharishi and planned to attend his ashram in October, but their trip was rescheduled due to other commitments.

  • The Rolling Stones were really good but the Beatles just blow everyone away. Best band ever, no question.

  • they were a great band 'tween 63-66. The other times they were changing the face of rock music, setting new horizons for our listening wonder and enjoyment. The Beatles... are THE BAND OF ALL BANDS!

  • @mLADL2k Yes.... I know- it should've been " their presence felt".It's very late and I have a fever given to me by a thoughtful waiter for Christmas .YAY

  • Looks about as natural as the North Vietnamese home movies of tortured US pilots(way, way past waterboarding people ) reading antiwar statements. The Beatles as we met them on the Sullivan show ,were by this time= hollowed out & filled with a anti West agenda .Soon after they arrived back in the UK Yoko & her politics would make their presecnce felt.

  • This looks like one big photo-op. Mia Farrow? ...what the hell did she really have to do with the music? If it's a party, then why have the cameras? Why go to see a guru and take a film crew? ..I don't get it. ..but I love the music of The Beatles. So, I watch this and accept it.

  • @imthefrogman Beatles were the furthest from "hippies." Hippies were college teens who did drugs and dropped out of school and demonstrated against the vietnam war and racism in America. The Beatles rarely ever spoke out even in song until John Lennon stepped out of the circle. Long hair doesnt constitute hippie.

    Abraham Lincoln had long hair!

  • is that paul???
