This is the first drive I made while on vacation at St. Joe Beach in Florida. In this one I accidentally got too close to the surf. The salt water shorted my non-waterproofed servo extensions and I temporarily lost the ability to go into reverse as you can see the second time I approached the water and couldn't back up! Afterwards I took everything apart and rinsed it off with a garden hose and it was fine.

  • Was that salt or fresh water? Bet that's great for the electronics. I saw it throwing a lot of sand up, too. I bet it was a mess to clean up. This would be great for chasing crabs with. I used to chase 'em from hole to hole as a kid, and they are fast.

  • @TheMrBlinx Yes. Gulf of Mexico. I learned my lesson about getting too close to the water on the beach. As you can see the camera mount was quite shaky but I have since greatly improved the stability; Look at my video "FPV Tonka Summit: New Camera Mount Stability Test". I hope to take it back to the beach sometime with the new mount. Should make for a much better video!

  • Bet you got worried when it wouldn't go in reverse. =]

  • @atltybo You can see my wife about to get up to rescue me when I just sat there and didn't move. All the while I'm up at the beach house frantically pulling the stick back. lol

  • That's a rele popular beach u went to.....

  • @MattUndftd Actually I paid more to rent a house on an empty beach. lol It was the most relaxing vacation I've ever had.
