Sleazy. Download software for free, but program won't run without a KEY which is not free. Nothing wrong with charging a fee for services, but why not be upfront about it? Getting sick of this kind of manipulation.

Well said- you and I both. Not exactly responsible for a company to waste materials that go in to manufacturing ink either. Wouldn't believe how much ink is still left in the carts when the 'smart' chips indicate they're empty. . .

Epson oughta be boycotted or at least held responsible for their carbon footprint in this decidedly wasteful profit-stretching 'tactic/ scheme.' It's dishonest. They'll probably claim that it improves print quality or reduces wear n tear on the hardware!

A comparable utility, that resets the waste ink counter in Epson printers, is available FREE from the OFFICIAL Epson website. I downloaded it for my nx200 and am very happy with it.

As far as counters on the cartridges go, I bought some Ink Owl refillable carts for $18.00, and they have auto resetting chips. Refills equitable to the OEM carts, with dye ink from another supplier ($13.00 for 100 ml each of CYMK), make refills about $0.50 for my nx200. So yes, I am very happy.
