The police had unofficially broken up, when Sting created a new band. The band consisted out of jazz musicians which brought Sting's songs to a new level. The rehearsals and first gig was filmed for a movie in which sting showed the starting of a band.

You can see police-drummer Stewart Copeland on the balcony(looking rather impressed).
Also, you see Stings Son(Joe Sumner) as a baby. Currently Joe is leadsinger in a band of his own, called "Fiction Plane".
It's funny to hear how identical Joe's voice is to Sting.
