La Salle High, Pasadena CA, April 2005: "Every 15 Minutes" is a national anti-drunk driving educational campaign designed to educate high school students about the tragic results of drinking and driving. Pasadena holds the event at a different school each year.

Please rate and comment - your comments about how to make the filmed portion even more powerful are very welcome.

  • i go to this school. they did it again today. it looked a lot more meaningful last time than it did today. it was way to staged today. none the less it still was pretty powerful

  • @littleslash69 Hi - Ironically, it has to have a somewhat staged look. When it's too real - like when there's no Grim Reaper to relieve the pressure - students and parents often complain it's way too traumatizing. A catch 22.

  • @DeederV agreed. i saw this video before our actual presentation so i was expecting a lot but i like this one better. this video wasnt really all thaat traumatizing.

but when are you going to put this years video on ?

  • @alexandra7rivera Which one was better - the 2005 or this years? Can you tell me more about what worked and what didn't work for you?

This year's video will be up ASAP - the video you saw at the assembly is (obviously) quickly thrown together overnight, so I spend the next week or so polishing and improving before presenting the final program on DVD and uploading.

  • so my school did this today and I was super pissed off at the administration they took 900 students and forced us to stand in the fucking rain just so they could prove a point most bullshit day ever I'm sure the every 15 minuets thing is helpful and a good thing but my school executed the whole thing so poorly that it seems like it had a negative effect all it did for me was left me feeling bored cold and incredibly pissed off

  • @oldbag222 What made it so bad? If it hadn't been cold and raining, would it have been better, or do you think the whole idea is a bad one? Seems like you'd agree there is a good point to be made, but you're right - if it's being badly communicated, it's worse than not communicating at all. The program used to be very effective - any ideas what might be more relevant today?

  • People who end up in the hospital always dies. -____-

  • We did this program today. It's good (we didn't do the Grim Reaper thing, that's cheesy). However 1) I don't like how every 15 minutes our principal made an announcement that somebody else died. A church bell is good instead. 2) The school should have used actors from our Drama dept. Our reenactment actors were bad. 3) The program doesn't cover the root of this problem: drinking

  • I saw this at my school today. (I was walking past the grim reaper passing period x.o he pointed at me) But it was amazing and life changing to witness every 15 minutes

  • Kids, If the driver had been smoking weed this would have never happend. Lol In fact, he would have never got in the car! xD

  • @DeederV Last april we did a mock crash at my high school. We do not have a grim reaper and we do not pull students out of class. I do like the Every 15 minutes program though. Even though we did not do these "extra" things our crash was just as powerful and it was very real. The students were not told about the crash and they were just pulled out of class to walk outside and see the crash. We had actors in the car and the EMTs and firefighters responding treated it as a real crash.

  • 1:24 oh hes fine

  • @scorpianofthesun you are drunk?

I've seen friends of those who have been killed in an alcohol related crash. And let me tell everyone here right now: I NEVER want to see that kind of hurt, pain, anguish and sorrow ever again.

  • Sorry for the bad spelling guys. What I meant to say was: Drinking and driving and possibly causing a fatal accident, ruining a family, because they have to deal with the fact that they will never see their loved ones again? Having YOUR own life ruined, because of one stupid decision, and you end up in jail.

Is having that last beer or shot worth it? Is getting home on time from a party, despite the fact that you are over the limit, worth it?

Do you honestly think you're ok to drive when

  • Drinking and Driving and very possibly cauing a fatal accident

ruining a family, because they have to deal with the fact that they will never see their lod one again?

Having YOUR own life ruined, because of one stupid decision, and you end up in jail.

Is having that last beer or shot worth the risk?
