Starquake was bright and colourful shooter that was programmed by Stephen Crow. The game was published by Bubble bus software and released in 1985. The Story for Starquake is you play a character called Blob who's mission it is to stop a planets core from exploding which will set of huge explosion which will destroy the universe. So its up to you to control Blob and save the universe! Starquake was game I had heard of and had even seen in the magazine but i had actually never played or owned. The game play is very similar to one of my other favourite ZX Spectrum games Scumball, Starquake has some lovely bright well drawn graphics and loads of locations to explore and of course lots of baddies to destroy. Playing this game for the 1st time while making the video i I really enjoyed and it and it makes me wonder why on earth i actually never played this game before and that got me thinking, that was one of the reasons why i loved the 8bit gaming days, because there was so many games out there and once in a while a game i hadn't played or owned comes along and i feel like a little kid again. Starquake is a great game and has a great senseof exploration which really makes you want to have another go. After playing this game, it has got me really excited to Damien's remake of this game. I hope you enjoy the video and please feel free to comment Thanks

  • Hey Andy, have you ever heard of a Speccy game called "Prison Riot"? I'm just amazed how much it rips off Joe Blade II, It's virtually the same game!!!

  • @LarryBundyJr yeah i even have a rom were it comes up as joe blade 4-5 or something like that too

  • Though I've never played the system before I have noticed through all the reviews and gameplay videos I've seen on youtube that a lot of the spectrum games don't seem to make much sense. You're kinda left trying to figure out the game more often than not for the first part. But it is colourful :)

  • @MoreDakka101 the zx spectrum was my favoirite home computer as it was the 1st proper 1 i had, it still amazes me and there are thousands of games that ive never played to this day, llike this one

  • Ooh..I somehow missed this video!? Just found it now looking for a decent Starquake vid! :-)

You do realise that you can pick up that keycard at 1.16....just push up.......in fact it's pretty much crucial to progress in the game. It gets you through those doors like the one right at the end of the vid...and that little door blocking your way at 3.42 can be got past by finding a Key somewhere else in the game! :-)

  • @CosRamix Transylvanian tower, never heard of it, so im gonna play it today,

love the spectrum for that reason theres so many games ive never played.

  • @CosRamix I bet you were really happy with Star Quake as it is really good, what was the game that your parents got you?

no ive never played Firelord, but im always looking for games ive never played before.

  • it's sound more likey a DOS game then a Spectrum game
