Republicans inside of Congress told Iran to hold off releasing the hostages until right after Reagan was sworn in, which is exactly what happened. Look it up if you don't believe me. Realize that both parties work for the interests of the multi global national banks that control almost completely what they do. It's sad but true. Bush and Obama are puppet Presidents.

@ModernPlague You would have to read Rumsfeld in his own words to understand the context and complexity of what was going on and his personal contempt for Saddam. It doesn't appear that you have done that yet.....When the dictator loving Carter was given his White House eviction notice by the American voters, Iran suddenly freed the 52 American hostages after 444 days of captivity on Day 1 of Reagan's presidency. The wisdom of letting Saddam and Iran bleed each other out had its pros and cons.

The U.S. is A-OKAY with brutal dictators who mistreat their own people, so long as they behave like good U.S. business-puppets. As soon as they try for too much autonomy, or the U.S. finds it convenient, they are suddenly painted as EVIL. The U.S. sold him the fucking chemical weapons he used---the U.S. power structure has no morals.

So what, people vote here in the States, too, but what good does it do us? Shittier conditions every day for the average citizen, while a few elite Wall Street fat-cats suck up MORE of our money.

Over 1 million Iraqis died as a result of the U.S. invasion, and polls show they didn't want us to invade, and wanted us OUT once we were there. They STILL don't have adequate living conditions---electricity, clean running water, etc. The U.S. is there to plant more bases for OIL.
