Rener was lost on the non sense sportive rules. He had the knee, but I guess it was illegal, Then Telles got into that ridiculous turtle position (that should be illegal!) I know Rener was thinking elbows strikes to the spine, he even try to grab the pants in a way that is illegal (don't ask me why and don't tell me why). Rener didn't mind being on his back, Telles turned his "back" just so Rener wouldn't pass his guard. Rener doesn't belong there.

@thiagolevy Why turtle position should be ilegal ?, that is a natural way to avoid to get side control, everbody does that, include Royler, and Ryron turned his back vs Crosley Gracie. if strikes was allowed (MMA style) , the all thing would change. Telles , has experience in Karate before Jiu-Jitsu.

dont get me wrong when i say ryron is a phenomenal grappler, yet when you think he's been rollin since he can walk, he's got about 15 years on anyone else he shouldn't be getting taken the distance.

This ref is an idiot rener should have been diquilified as soon as he crossed his leg and started reaping the knee and when they left there mat area while rener was attacking the foot the ref had to stop the fight and they had to begin standing again. But then again the rules in 2004 where alot difrent then now, but if it was todays rules Eduardo would have won with 5 points and 2 advantages and rener with 1 advantage

Rener reaped the leg. He brought his outside foot over Telles's hip. It's illegal as a blanket rule because it's very easy to put rotational force on the knee from that position. You also aren't allow to be on your inside hip when you are attacking the foot.

It's kind of queer. Lots of strange rules in the gi when you are attacking the legs.
