Wow.
I found this glitch two days after you posted this video on my own. I also have an excellent explanation for it as well. The sponge used to update a 5x5x5 block radius, with sponge as the center, to remove water. Even though it doesn't remove water anymore, it still updates that radius. So, using a BUDS switch or something like that, you can actually send short signals through walls.
I recommend you send this video to a more famous youtuber like sethbling or someone like that.

@itsmanofpopsicle Thought about it, but there's nothing really new here. The piston based connectors are similar to instant wire, and the sponge update area was already known. (I got the idea after seeing the sponge article on the wiki). And to be more practical, you can get a signal through a wall, just by powering a block...
Also, note the description and the video this is responding to. :P

@Kalebomb There isn't really much to it.
If a block up and to the side of a piston (see video) is powered, it will power the piston but not update the block. So the piston will only react when it's forced to update by adjacent blocks.
The sponge seems to update a larger area, which allows the gap between each "unit".
I suggest trying to copy one of the individual things to see how it works.
