It makes one sick to consider the mean estate in which Our Lord is often enshrined. However, even in the worst of places, there is still hope. Many will recognize these altars and tabernacles, some may not. However, they all share one thing: they are the physical dwelling place of Our Lord. This is a gift unrivaled in the history of the world. Let us be sure to treat It as such.

  • No problem. :-)

  • I'm trying to figure out which churches have the high altars. Saints Peter and Pauls, St. Michaels, St. Stanislaus, Blessed Sacrament, St. Cecilia's and Our Lady of Victory. Can you tell which altars are at 1:46, 2:27 and 2:56?

  • 1:46 - St. Margaret Mary's (It's even more beautiful now.)

2:27 - Corpus Christi (The truly Catholic one, not Spiritus Christi.)

2:56 - Holy Rosary (The painting is a little obscure - it shows Our Lady giving the rosary to St. Dominic.)

  • The tabernacle at St. Paul's church in Webster isn't even visible in the church proper...

  • Thanks for filling me in. When I was in grade school at SS. Peter and Paul's, I served many Mass at that altar. Thanks again.

  • King of Justice, King of Israel, King of the whole earth, King of Hades! King of Mercy, deliver me from my adversaries! Enter me in Thou Eternal Life today. Amen! O mea culpa, mea culpa, mea culpa. Miserator, Te miserescat me, Miserum de miserum!

  • Sacrilige!

  • I recognize St. Christopher's in the film. It's orange carpet and plastic chairs with no kneelers gave it away. Hideous. My CCD class didn't even realize Jesus was present in the tabernacle, located in the back of the church in it's little room used as the cry room, would you believe it? God help us.

  • It seems strange to say that an altar can just be removed. Makes Liturgy seem so mundane. . .

Then again, we're in the Diocese of Rochester.

  • What a pity. It's always such a shame when the thing that makes us Catholic is willfully removed and treated like an unnecessary frill.
