This seems counter to what I hear about Islam. Women are free to work, be educated etc. Why then do many Islamic countries not allow women to do these things? (ie: women are not able to drive in Saudi Arabia as the most obvious example) If this is his interpretation of Islam, he seems to be a minority in his "liberal" views. I would think that saying women are "empowered" by the hijab is only valid if it truly an OPTION for them. If it is mandated, it is not power... it is the opposite. MHO.
