I assume this is a no-gi BJJ match. BJJ matches are scored by positional advances, i.e taking someone's back or moving to full mount. The ultimate goal however, is to win a match by submission using techniques like the armbar attempts you saw. Pinning isn't scored, unlike in Judo competition where a pin for a set amount of time results in an ippon victory.

Serious inquiry here: Can someone explain how this differs from freestyle wrestling---because the red-anklet girl would have been pinned long ago. What are they striving---or earning points---for? Saw some potentail MMA arm-bar stuff, but still a bit mystified.....
