Did American Idol's Kris Allen rip off MTV's Mia Carruthers "Heartless" cover?

Last night Idol Kris sang a version of Kanye West's "Heartless". A few weeks ago MTV's Taking the Stage showed Cincinnati HS student Mia Carruthers singing her version of "Heartless"... did Kris get the idea from her? Vote on the Kiss Mornings blog @ Kiss107.com

her version was still like Kanye's take on the song. Kris' was acoustic and more about the lyrics..

first off the frey did it first. 2ndly; thats the point of these shows you are sing other pple songs " a cover" , also 95% of songs out there have more then one version, a slow, fast &,yuck, a"remix" its hard to be org w/ utube around,.so no one stole ne thng from ne2 period...plus lets not forget that every1 went gag over Adams version of Mad World, but no said ne thing about it being exactly Gary Jules, version ( the orig. done by tears for fears.) and micheal andrews whcih sounds like Gary.

If you want to say that he ripped her off, or whatever, MAYBE you should check the FRAY . They do a version of that Same song

and yes the whole show is a rip off, but when they keep asking the contestants to come up with a new take on a song, they're not asking them to search for other artists who have covered a song and use their ideas. I guess we're running out of creative people for american idol

he ripped off the Fray's version...thought that was pretty shady.  Mia's was a bit more upbeat and pretty close to the original but they all sound great!

they both sound fantastic, but Kris' version was completely acoustic just the guitar and himself. He completely changed the arrangement as well as the instrumental itself. In fact, the song would be barely recognizable if it weren't for the chorus.

Her version is pretty faithful to Kanye's original. She maintains the same key, same arrangement, just with an A Capella backing. the atmosphere may sound similar but the two arrangements are completely different. he didn't rip off
