The following day on Sunday September 19th 2010, steam locomotive BB18 ¼ 1089 was again rostered on to operate the Australian Railway Historical Society's annual steam train excursion to Toowoomba.
After leaving suburbia behind, the train travels across the fertile plains of the Lockyer Valley, passing through the townships of Laidley, Forrest Hill, Gatton, Grantham and Helidon before the ascent of the Toowoomba range and arriving into the impressive station of Toowoomba.
In the early afternoon of Monday, January 10th 2011, raging flood waters swept through this part of the region, devastating entire towns, washing away peoples homes and businesses and tragically claiming many lives.
