  • Was the $50,000 Pyramid still on at this time?

  • I believe so.

  • This game show used Atari 2600 video games to test physical reflexes. The video game could be played only for 15 seconds.

  • If it was in Britian it would be The crypt-tin factor. Wow $50,000 in Au!!! And they played Atari 2600!!! I remember this was a summer series. Cheque out the fro on Andrew!

  • gary lost on jeopardy in 1987

  • It would have been an interesting series. Once on his radio talk show (2/26/2006), Adam Carolla tried to pitch an idea to Mark Burnett, for a game show called "Renaissance Man," which involved physical and mental tests. Mark knew the idea was already done but still encouraged Adam to make it.

I'm not crazy about the contestant's color scheme on this show. Is the second player red or purple? Here's one I would use: blue-red-gold-purple, in that order.

  • OMG the Atari game "Outlaw" or Sears Version "Gunslinger" I feel old lol

  • Some shows that are meant as one timers shoule stay one-timers. The Krypton Factor is an exception to me because with the innovative game play and unique abitilities to be presented, it would have been an interesting series.

Dick Clark was very good at commenting and questioning but I think he was too formal for this kind of a show (tuxes are for glitzy shows I feel).

Parts of this were a little too electronic and ahead of their time. However, it's a solid game and a deserved 4 stars.

  • Depends on how many ounces of gold 50k got you then. It was $1k to the ounce a few months back.

  • I wonder how much that gold would be worth now.

  • Another US version lasted a season in syndication in 1990; Willie Aames hosted.

And Fox ordered a pilot of a new US version in 2000 with Pat O'Brien (who was doing Access Hollywood at the time), but they turned it down in favor of better programming (i.e., American Idol).

  • The $50K Pyramid was in Summer reruns then, and would not be renewed. Although CBN would pick up reruns of that version sometime in 1982.
