ACES NJTransit Cherry Hill, NJ

NJTransit operates premium service between New York Penn Station and Atlantic City. In South Jersey, regular Phila/AC service also operates, and the trains meet to pass each other along the way. A regular meet is at Cherry Hill on Saturday night, and a northbound ACES is waiting for a southbound Phila-AC train to arrive at Cherry Hill. Hind-end power on the regular train is NJT F40 4124. ACES has P40DC diesel 4800 leading and ALP44 electric 4412 trailing. A locomotive is on either end so the train can travel on the Northeast Corridor as well as on the Atlantic City line without having to change engines. New bilevel cars for ACES offer a more luxurious trip. Not too many passengers on this trip... Horns at the end of the video are the southbound blowing for Utica Ave. in Westmont.

This is NY-bound on a Saturday night. Probably more of a return run as who goes home from AC at 8pm? The train is really a comp for casino customers. The original plan did not include ticket sales to the public. Three AC casinos are sponsoring this train operation; it's already paid for.

ACES is the hotshot, but the schedule calls for the meet to occur. Ideally, the PHL/AC train would be at Cherry Hill and ACES would fly by, and I think that's the plan, but the real world gets in the way.

F40's and Gp40's are built by EMD and sound like classic EMD power. The P40's were built by GE and sound typical of GE's. The PL42's are new engines with basically EMD guts to them although I dont think highly of them.

Great video, but I have one question. Why doesn't the P40BH rev up like other diesels do? In all the videos that I've seen it, I've never heard it rev up like the F40PHs, GP40s, and even PL42s do.

ithe ACEs had some passengers but it would be better if the trip is $50.00 round trip but its not its $.00 round trip which sucks right?
