  • 100,000 tons is actually 200,000,000 pounds.

  • whoops, I think you meant to say "if a couple Iranian Silkworm missiles somehow managed to make it past the CBG's defenses her sisters would show up within the week and finish the entire nation to a fine grey ash"

  • dear santa

  • Love us, or hate us, I can assure you that nothing gives you more of a sense of pride than having served in the United States Navy. As I age I begin to realize the influence the Navy had on my career, my life and my ability to succeed. It is possibly the only time where you really believe you are doing something significant and can have the pride throughout your entire life knowing you did something unselfish for your country, your family and yourself. You carry it to your Veterans grave.

  • I am plank owner for the Carl Vinson...........CVN70 ben thru trials.......and yes they will stop with in a mile from full speed ! ....Shakes the hell of ship but we survived ! .......

  • @jafalks much much faster

  • went thru the entire sea trials when I pre-commissioned the carl Vinson (CVN-70) and most of that was in the so called "Burmuda trialangle" .......when they go from full speed to full reverse........Its an experience you only might get once ! ........I will never forget it !

  • ya know the best thing about being nuclear powered ?........it doesn't matter what the price of oil is to operational ! via a Plank owner CVN 70 USS Carl Vinson........Me.......LOL.

and battle flank speed is way over 35 knots on these boats.........I know as I was standing watch in central control !

  • The Nimitz class can go about 31-33 knots depending on hull condition. I believe the Enterprise may be a little faster because of her hull design, said to be more of a "cruiser" design, which to me means longer and thinner (less drag). Reports of 50- 60 mph or knots is just BS.. They do have about 300,000 hp but that just aint enough to make 100k tons go that fast.

  • 100 knot is top speed, but this is very TOP secret so DON'T YOU TELL ANYONE ! (I read it on the internet).
