A magical tale of adventure and discovery showcasing some of the extraordinary species recently found around the world. 'Astonish Me' has been created by acclaimed writer Stephen Poliakoff and director Charles Sturridge to celebrate our 50th anniversary.

The most environmentally friendly thing a rich person (or anyone for that matter) can do is to choose voluntarily have a smaller family.

You should fight to protect the rain-forests in Brazil, President Dilma recently approved the destruction of 400,000 hectares or forest to build a new hydroelectric plant. Not only might there be undiscovered species but there are also uncontacted human tribes still living there.

I was truly astonished. Discover new species? Yes, so that we can exploit & destroy them just like all of the others? The ONLY hope for new species is if we leave them undiscovered. I can't believe WWF are so myopic. Sorry.

@groovestylemusic Locating and recording new species is vital for conservation - as many species become extinct due to habitat loss and humanity's impact on the planet, we need to study what's left to understand their role in the ecosystem so that we can preserve biodiversity - it's only by understanding can we find the solutions.
