Looking back I could have used the handbrake to force the back of the car out and drift it into the road he was coming out of or spun it 180 to let the seat resist the impact

Now...how many people know what cadence braking is, or understeer, or oversteer, how to counter them and a few other things that SHOULD be natural to a driver. Compare Finnish driving tests to ours, it's not in the same leauge, people need to be taught to a much higher standard. A blanket reduction of speed is irrelevant

You say the standard of Uk driving is poor, yet view a reduction in speed as being irrelevant? This is highly contradictory.

So even you who believes he can pick & choose which road traffic legislation to ignore because he has a 'motor racing liscence', can't avoid low speed collisions! Which league is that?

It's 30mph on urban roads for the very reason that the level of interaction is high, lower speeds = less physical trauma.

What experience do you have of attending RTC's?

Nothing to do with picking and choosing.

38 MPH on a deserted, clear & clearly hazard free road is pointless.

Seconly the speed camera outside my place of work was placed on the other side of the road which is clear and easy to speed on as it flashes every 5 minutes and not on my side of the road where I am continualy plauged by accidents which close the road and ruin my trading.

3rd, what will fining someone for speeding do compared with better standards to avoid accidents

You say you are an experienced driver, so you either chose to exceed the posted threshold or was unable to control your vehicle.

Speed limits apply at all times, so knowing the section of carriageway, you are more to blame than most.

You have obviously been mentally impacted by receiving a notice of intended prosecution, it has damaged your confidence, made you doubt your capabilities & you will be extra careful in future.

It has done exactly what it said on the tin.

Experienced drivers don't need to continually 'watch' their speedos, they know that only a gradient or depressing the throttle makes you go faster.

Vehicles don't speed up on their own, so only motorists who lack confidence need to 'watch' their speed.

And this has no logic whatsoever.

Presumably you are one the twats that enforce these penalties and believe you are doing a good job.

Which makes sense because you still haven't managed to grasp what I have said or come up with anything other than childish counters, picking on irrelevant points and not addressing the rest.

Either that or you are a Labour politician.

Either way, I garuntee I am in a far better driving "league" than you and understand this issue better.

So no experience of attending RTC's then.

Speed cameras are positioned where the speed problems exist. What would be the point in placing one where it never 'flashed'? You clearly haven't thought this through.

You haven't made any points to 'grasp', just moaned about getting caught, & despite self-proclaimed driving excellence, you screwed up by not seeing the big box on a stick.

You also opt for gems like 'you sacastic twat!, instead of reasoned debate.

Far better league?

Nah.

a. yes I have. I have lost 3 friends to drunk drivers.

b. The point is they are supposed be placed at "accident hotspots." If the acciedents happen on the other side of the road, its not "preventing accidents" is it.

c. If you think I have only "moaned about being caught" then I suggest you can't read.

So if you're going to pass judgement I suggest you read it again and again until you realise the point being made.

d. I have better people to "moan" to on the issue than you.

Hi skel, thanks for replying;

The question was what is your experience of attending RTC's, not how many people have you known who died in accidents?
So still none then.

Collision history is looked at per individual site. I am unable to comment on the site in question, however the causative impact of approaching traffic is often a factor.

I am sure you have access to 'better' people to moan at. I bet they welcome it too, assuming they can't cross the road before you get there.

It's still a moot point.

That's life! Accidents happen! Shit happens!

I've had one road accident which was the other drivers fault because he didn't take enough care coming out of a side road in 6" of snow. The accident happened at low speed, I still got whiplash. The accident could have been avoided if he had looked properly because I saw himthrough 4 parked cars. The damage was limited because I used cadence braking to slow the car and at a point of low resistance to reduce the impact.
