This is Northwest Ballet's version of The Firebird, which is a 1910 ballet by Igor Stravinsky and choreographed by Michel Fokine. The ballet is based on Russian folk tales of the magical glowing bird of the same name that is both a blessing and a curse to its captor.
I'd like the critics gatita and company post a video of themselves trying to top this dance by Ms Clacy. Obviously her arms are constantly moving because she represents a bird who is trying to escape.Did you see a bird trying to escape.? It flaps its wings constantly. At any rate this is definitely one of my favorite video clips of ballet dancing.
i agree she is very good but the origonal dancer maria tallchief who the ballet was made for by her ex husband(george blanchine) sopposidly was exquisite because it made her thu united states's first prima ballerina
She is very graceful and flexible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thank you!!! [for the dancers] I'M LOVIN you all !!!!!!!!!! congratulations and someday you both will be prima Ballerinas!!!
Very nice. I only recently heard the full ballet and I find it just as good as The Rite of Spring and Petrushka. It might even top them; I haven't decided yet.
I wish we could see the rest of this... I would love to see the King Kachei sequence

The lady (Alyse Clacy?) dancing is exquisite, The video has clarity and captures the flow of her movements beautifully.
