  • Man I love K-Tel. Totally reminds me of being a little kid with my Fisher Price record player. :D

  • @evankirk HA!!!! :)

  • Wow thanks for sharing Raymond! I'll be doing a vid pretty soon of my K-tel collection on 8 track. I have a few of the same ones you do. And yes the sound quality did improve on the later ones as they didn't try to pack so many songs onto one Lp! Fun stuff!!!!

  • @CapitolLimited Oh 8-track K-tel would be a lot of fun!!! Yes! Please share!

  • Awesome collection. I think I have a couple of those around here. But the Ktel album I remember most is "Disco Fire" from 1978. I still have it. They had the songs all ran together like what they did in the clubs. I also had one on cassette called "Southern Fried Rock", and that had a great line-up.

  • @727JeffN OOOoooo...I need to find Southern Fried Rock!!!!

  • I much preferred the sound quality of K-Tel over Ronco. I had Chartbusters from 1984.

  • Nice collection! I have a couple of K-Tel LP's, a few I got at Goodwill yesterday when I was showing you in my record update. I used to have the K-Tel LP's "Dumb Ditties", "Rainbow" and "Together", but I got rid of them a few years ago, but I might as well get it again someday.

  • So kool, I know I gave you one of these or I hope I did.. lol I had a few growing up, just think 1974 to 1979.

  • Great video. Thumbs up!

  • Because they were a Canadian company, many of the K-Tel LP's contained tunes by Canadian artists who were one-hit wonders. So the old K-Tel LP's are a great resource for finding vinyl copies of those tunes, in spite of the inferior audio quality.

  • That K-Tel video was great Raymond! K-Tel was a Canadian company out of Winnipeg. I think the K had something to do with the surname of the owner. I must have about 50 of them so I'll do a video one day. K-Tel also did several artists LP's like Hollies, Johnny Rivers, Elvis, Three Dog Night, etc. When I was working in record stores during the 70's, we'd often run out of hit K-Tel LP and then not be able to buy more. When the ad campaign ended, that was it!

  • Wow, it's just like those "now that's what I call music" mainstream compilation albums. Didn't realize that had been done for so long.

  • i got some of those K-Tel lps.and you're right their earlier lps were poorly edited, but not to all of them.that second lp,20 explosive hits, has full versions of the music on there(got that on christmas of 1982).i'm surprise they haven't reissue lot of these on cd and put full versions on it too.thank you for showing those lps.
