[A Lesson in Romance: Roman & Kate Style] - Taking Chances

A response to xxmaej26xx's "Days" romance challenge.
*I know the format is different than used in the host video, but I wanted to make this unique, make it my own.

Kate: Roman has the soul of a poet, the body to die for, and he scrambles a mean egg. And he's the only man who's ever cared for me the way I am on the good days and the bad days. We can talk through the night; we can walk hand in hand through the park without ever saying a word and it's... it's always right. So if that isn't happiness, I don't know what the hell is.

Kate: I love you.

Roman: I love you.

Kate: You did save me.

Kate: You don't know how much that means to me.

Sometimes I forget how much I love this pairing, how they really are my OTP. And then I go back and rewatch their story when I edit and I just fall in love with them all over again, fall in love the way they did... The amazing thing about Roman and Kate is that they aren't perfect. They're polar opposites, they fought all of the time, and so much came between them: children, exes, dark pasts, murder... But there was an undeniable chemistry from the start, and slowly, they started to trust each other. Slowly, they started to care about each other. Slowly, they sacrificed for each other. Slowly, they saved each other. Here were two people so rough around the edges, so laden with trust issues, opening up to each other, allowing themselves to be vulnerable around each other, allowing themselves to fall in love again.... It wasn't easy; at times, it was downright aggravating. They're adults so they should know what they're doing, but they don't. They're like two teenagers messing things up and trying to fix it.

When the challenge was issued, I was appalled by the quote which brought it into being. Keeping people apart isn't what makes us ship them, isn't what keeps us watching. Yes, there should be angst and drama and even interlopers; you have to give them real problems and you can't have things be perfect all of the time because then it gets boring. But to deny any sort of happiness, any sort of resolution... It's not just bad fan service, it's bad writing, and as a writer, I take personal offense to that. The journey is half of the fun, but you need the payoff. You need the happily ever after sometimes.

I am a lot like you, I forget how much I really truely love Kate and Roman, how they are the only reason I am watching soaps today. How they pulled me in, and never quite let go. This was amazing, and it really brought what made Kate and Roman sooo f'ing special into life. Incredible.

@jsms99 I have a toolbar installed on my web browser that allows me to record audio playing on my computer at the time; I have all of the footage I use on my external hard drive. I play and record at the same time, and use the audio recorded as voice overs. Was there a specific voice over you were wondering about, though?
