This is an Irish song I learned from the dutch band Kilshannig. On this video, I sing it with my friend (in front with the lyrics in her hands :P)

A wonderful song, infinitely sad.
More beautiful and sad here, sung by women .
This softness in their voices... and all the suffering in the world ...
May our future generations never know all this suffering and live in peace.
Peace to all.

Written by Eric Bogle who was born in Scotland and emigrated to Australia in 1969 so not Irish, but certainly about Ireland's troubles.
Well Sung
Peace
