  • i'm currently taking lessons, and "my" horse Russel has a very heavy trot that almost bounces me right out of the saddle. it's hard to hold on, steer, and post all at the same time, along with keeping my posture up and my heels down. i know its a matter of habit and practice, but do you have any tips/advice to help me learn a little better?

  • @kagomebaby97 you just need to gain strength. Have your trainer put you on the lunge line and do some no stirrup work

  • How come when i rise i feel as though im going to high and when i sit back down i HIT the saddle really hard.. My riding instructor isnt helping...

  • @huskylover127 it sounds like your base is very unstable. You need to gain strength in your legs so that the horse's trot doesn't throw you off balance. Just keep strengthening your legs, sit up, and sink into your heels.

  • a month has passed and i'm finally posting trot without a lunge line, i've got almost perfect balance and I can keep it up for a while. i can even set myself on the right diagonal and steer 8D and only 8 lessons in 2 months!

  • @kagomebaby97 , It can be tricky keeping balance when your horse has a bit of a bumpy trot, trust me, bu, what my instructor tells me to do is to keep your heals down, put all your weight almost onto it, and keep your legs firm on the side of the horses body. be sure you are not leaning forward, and have your legs long, and almost lean back, not literally back, but almost. Good Luck! (:

  • @xSophieCuyler i am already on the lunge line, so i guess wish me luck xD i go back again every sunday

  • my legs are very loud when trotting , along with my hands, any advice?

  • @xSophieCuyler Thanks for the tips!

  • thats a really good rising trot it took me a while to get the complete "feel" of it!
