MEET TELLEY MAYBIR
Chantelle (Telley) Maybir is 18 years old and started off dancing, in front of her Filipino side of the family . Growing up, for any family events the aunts and uncles would make Telley and her cousins put on small dance performances. It was nerve wrecking, but in the end those embarrassing performances made Telley realize her passion for dancing. She attended Cerritos High School, became apart of Cerritos Dance Drill Team, and learned many different styles of dance such as jazz, ballet, hip-hop, and military. At 14 she started taking classes at Quest Learning Center, Stylz dance studio, Hype and much more. Unfortunately she was too young to work at that time, and classes were a bit expensive. What she said her solution was, "I would sell candy at school, and use that money to take dance class". Then she joined her first junior team Goon Squad, and Tha Acadamee both directed by Jay Chris Moore. Not long after, she started teaching her first weekly class at Quest Learning Center in Artesia. She was also apart of projects such as April Rodriguez's "Agape", Jay Chris's Carnival, and Groove Movement. In 2009 Telley joined BoxCuttuhz, and was so greatful for this opportunity, especially to train under Lando Wilkins. Telley was able to interned for Movement Lifestyle. before her school year started, and became very inspired by the people who work behind the scenes in the dance community. She currently dances for GRV, and loves them with all her heart. GRV has been through so much together, and she will always cherish the bond they created. Telley also works for California Educational Centers, where she loves teaching children k-6th grade, in different elementary schools, how to dance. "Dancing is what you want it to be, your own art, and no one can take it from you. As dancers we are fortunate to have this outlet to really express our feelings, emotions, and what we're going through. Never forget your roots, and keep that passion alive. AMEN!"
