@9000Platinum I'm not ace but I can tell you. the # means the instance of that weapon/hat. The lower the number, the higher the value. So that is the 32nd Eureka Effect in all of TF2, pretty prestige. A low craft number could easily double the value of something.

@MrManofMinecraft To be honest, it's just luck. Unless you have some seriously awesome persuasion skills, trade servers are going to be costly. There is a chance you could run into a noob there, but it's low. It gets difficult around when you start trading hats: things get dicey. So, I suggest trading up weapons until you get a hat, and continue doing that until you amass a lot of hats. In addition, you could try scrapbanking, or just sell the hats for metal and buy the unusual that way.

@MrManofMinecraft Try not to do it on trade servers. People there usually know prices. Go to a random server and start advertising.  Bargain as much as you can. The easiest way to get an upgrade is to find somebody who REALLY wants that weapon or hat. For example I traded a Southern Hospitality (1 scrap) for a Phlogisitnator (2 scrap to 1 rec) because the guy really wanted the SH. It's all about finding the right person. Hope this helps.
