This is version 2 of a combination of pictures and videos edited in iMovie of our trip to Costa Rica in March 09. Myself, and three friends(Steve, Gary and Nicole) spent a total of 3 days in transit around San Jose( the capital) The other 7 days were spent down in the southern part of the country on the pacific coast just north of Panama(8 degrees above the equator, and yes the sun was very intense) . The Osa Peninsula is one of my favorites, and have been there 3 times. The biodiversity here is exceed by few places on the planet plus it has miles of mostly deserted picturesque beaches stroked by the warm blue waters of the Pacific ocean. There few roads and no electricity. Transport was either by horse, foot or boat. The only electricity was made with generators. We flew direct on US Airway to San Jose(the capital) and took a prop plane from San Jose to Drake Bay. Our main base was Punta Marenco Lodge near Drake Bay. We also arranged for a boat to take us further south into the heart of Corcovado National Park to spend two nights at the bunk house in Sirena Ranger station. Very basic dorm rooms, a shared shower, we brought and prepared our own food. I met a wildlife photographer down there who was working on a 3 month project on Spider Monkeys. He told me that he has traveled throughout North and South America and this area had the most prolific animal life in all of the americas. The rivers were teeming with fish including Bull Sharks and Crocodiles . We observed 4 different kinds of primates, saw a Puma, numerous herds of wild bores(some really scary large ones),Tucans, Scralet Macaws ...You name it , its here. In short, its a perfect place to escape the Matrix. There are some good jungle sound recordings at the beginning, if you have decent audio speakers attached to your computer you can hear it quite well. Let me know what you think.

  • around the Sirena Ranger station you do not swim in the ocean and have to carefully pick your swimming holes in the river. A guide is a really good idea..

  • This is a wonderful video. Thank you so much for sharing it with us! I wondered when I watched it---how does one know when its safe to go in the water---crocs and such. lol but really how does a gringa know?

    Bets to you,

    Dee

  • @MsSuccessMaker There is no real great place to go in the water around the Sirena Ranger Station. If you check with the local guides there are a few water holes up one of the near by rivers

  • flew only from San Jose to Drake Bay, stayed there for 5 days at Punta Marenco Lodge then took a boat down to the park,

  • Очень интересное видео спасибо за вашу работу! Посмотрел с большим интересом.

  • Flying is the best option when time constraints are in play, but if budget is in issue maybe you can't.

  • real nice job....Bull sharks aren't my Fav

  • You FLEW!? The best parts can only be seen along the trail. What a pity; you missed so much.

  • Corcovado is the most wonderful place in the world.

  • I was impresed about Costa Rica! I thought it was a less atractive destination. But now i'll have to change my itinerary! Thanks for sharing this!!!!

    Sebastian.
