President Sebastian Pinera of Chile promises to complete and pave the Carretera Austral, the only highway in Patagonia while on a visit to La Junta, in Northern Patagonia. The Ruta Austral has been forty years in the making, is 1000 kms long and is still largely unpaved. It's been stopped by Douglas Thomkins, the founder of The North Face and creator of the million hectare Pumalin Park that sits squarely in its path and stopped by the 2008 volcanic explosion in Chaiten. The President came to La Junta to unveil the development plan for Aysen, the XI Region of Chile, which is still isolated from the rest of the country and accessible only by ferry or from neighboring Argentina. The President spoke of the physical and cultural link by land to the rest of the Chile, but judging by the map that was produced at the La Junta event, there still needs to be ferries taken in the most northerly section.
A regular guy; a great president!
Too bad the opposition parties in Chile will only obstruct this government's agenda,
they are all criticism, CERO contribution to the betterment of the lives of the people who they claim to represent.
Concertacion =Corruption (Bachelet's political conglomerate)
Sebastian Pinera, un gran Presidente.
Saludos.

@formworksucks, you need a little bit more information, don't stay with the impresion of a few politician speechs like a reference. Cause this guy certanly doesn't really thinks quite well, even though, he can't pave the way of the future economy and the turism and environment of this country, he-unfortunately- follow the same mistakes than the others goverments.

He may have a low approval rating, but he doesn't stop even to take a breath. This guy is a legend. He is so much better than any president beforehand that he eclipses them all. Faced with enormous challenges he keeps moving forward, an extremely focused and determined individual.
