@thiri16 "I took her there, I treated her savagely, I made love to her, I had her, I didn’t care, I only wanted to hurt Denys, even though he didn’t know of it." I think that was only a passionate sex out of anger over their situations. I agree with you that it's a great love story. regards from Iran.

@thiri16 thiri16, I agree with you that Vita loved Violet deeply. additionally I think now that Vita never never never raped Violet. I searched all the books, I read Violet's letters and didn't find a sentence that refers to such an awful treatment, except a few lines in Vita's secret autobiography that published in the book "Portrait of a Marriage":

Majideh, its a great love story and Vita loved Violet . We all different and thats how Vita expresses her deep pain and Violet excepted that. Vita couldnt talk to anyone about her pain regards to Violet's marriage and when she met the person she could its just explode . People might think the same way about me (i never hit or raped my lover) i love 'A' so it hurts a lot when i sens something wrong and i kinda loose control and get violent.

i had no idea there was a film based on this story...i will have to find it..thank you for bringing it to my attention..i know of her largely through her relationship with virginia woolf..but i do know some details about violet trefusis..with her long aristocratic lineage, were she a man..we would perhaps have never heard of her..she lived the life that her male peers took for granted..i think she is fascinating..i cannot say why..as a man i just admire strong women ..once again ..thank you

Hello Ilkamy,
I didn't mean to damn Vita. I like her and appreciate her as a writer and in some ways as a person. Beside, I know that her love for Violet was real and remained life-long, but as I said before, I think that Violet remaind completely faithful to her, but she has many affairs afterward.
I acclaim Vita for writing that manuscript and saving all of Violet's letters and telegrams, if Violet also have preserved Vita's.

Hello Majideh
Why damn Vita and glorify Violet?
As I already said: The relationchip belonged to both.
It's easy to morally judge people.
Imagine this lesbian romance was about 100 years ago!
They did their outing in heavy (Victorian) life-conditions!
Vita made her outing. Violet hid herself behind a marriage with Denys.
Thanks to Vita, who wrote a manuscript about it and kept all letters by Violet.
She was an example in later life-times of other women!
Thanks to Nigel who publishing it.
Your job is great, but I don't like Vita very much, because she was very unfair to Violet Trefusis. I adore Violet and think Vita was not worthy for that great real love that Violet had. Forgive my poor english.

looking back I totally agree with you. I was kinda "in love" with Vita when I made this vid. Now that 'my love' for her is cooled down I can see how unfair and cold she was to Violet. She can be a very selfish woman sometimes to say the least. And I think your English is great ;)

Thanks for fine tribute to this interesting, wonderful and also enigmatic woman. It went straight to my heart. Since reading Portrait of a Marriage in 1975 I have loved them both but mostly Vita. To finally visit Sissinghurst was magic. Have you been there? Like you I will always love her though she's dead. Right now, since my garden interest has returned, I am reading her garden books with personal and very good advice. I suppose you have read V Glendinnings 'Vita'. If not, do. It's very good.

Thanks for sharing your excitement at meeting Vita Sackville-West. I felt the same way when I was first introduced to the members of the Bloomsbury Group - many of whom crossed paths with VSW. After watching your video I got out a stack of biographies and poured over pictures of her with Virginia Woolf and others. Sounds to me as if you've met a friend for life. Again, thank you.
