The entire process takes about three weeks. Once each day, 10 minutes per day. Make sure you have a trusting relationship with the horsebefore you start, or you'll get into dumb fights with it and create unnecessary tension. Teach the motion first (teaching the horse to turn the head in the opposite direction is key), then the command during the motion, then decrease the physical stimuli gradually (as allowed by your progress). Make sure you protect the fetlock, that you do this on soft ground, that you're quick on your feet, and don't EVER force the issue for more than a few seconds...
@MissPatalli thats what you have to do in order for the horse to learnm... pressure is what u have to do it does not hurt the horse at all unless u do it wrong...

Shit Dude, your horse doesn't even like to lift his foot to you. You DON'T have a trusting relationship like you advise... You FAILED.. go take a couple of "How to Handle a Horse" lessons.... This ain't it.... To all you folks who want to teach your horse to lay down.. DON't follow this guy....
