"Mash Liquor" does a really good job on this cover. The original and best version I ever heard was the Bob Shane, John Stewart, Nick Reynolds configuration of the Kingston Trio doing the song on their album "Time to Think". Give it a listen. Thanks for posting.
I like this song no matter who does it, but it's certainly not a Kingston Trio song. Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger and many others did it before The Kingston Trio. I learned it from a Pete Seeger record in 1960.
Revisited this a year later. A good, spirited version of the that classic and very well done. Judging by one comment here, it must offend some folks that brown folks can sing just as well. Just look who controls the US debt. Get used to it.
It was written by Goeble Reeves.
Nick Reynolds said they could only sing that song one time because it made him so sad.
