Midge Ure Singing "Vienna" LiveAid

This is such a hard song to sing live, going from talking to almost shouting (but not shouting) whilst keeping note perfect. Gotta love that drum machine :)
It was my second favourite performance of the concert (behind Queen - Radio Ga Ga) 70,000 people all singing and doing the actions simultaneously to Freddie is unbelievable.
Would of been amazing to have seen this concert (even if it was just watching at home on the TV) but I wasn't born lol
Why is music nowadays so rubbish?

He should take his coat off, he looks like hes sweating a bit in that summer heat.

Dissagree about it being the greatest vocal performance of Live Aid, but Midge is awesome.

was this uploaded by midge ure?

I love Queens performance at Liva Aid, loved Freddy. But always thought that Midge stole the show, followed by Sade (bloody close call). Two very very good voices, wasted on pop in a way, but thank God they chose it.

I doubt he was thinking about his diaphragm when he raised hi arms...or that he was trying to create space...obviously he was just caught up in the song and the moment given the awesome gravity of the event itself and why he was there. Don't think there is any need for a clinical breakdown of a performance like this...kind of detracts from what was created on the stage.

Midge looks so handsome in this coat :))

Yes is really a great performance: beautiful song, beautiful lyrics, and the voice of Midge Ure is very intense and touching... But sure this is not the best vocal performance ever... Have you listen Freddie Mercury in this show? His voice gives thrills... His scream when he's playing with the audience is wonderful...

Well I remember Freddie being there... He topped this by far...
LOL, tell me about it :-)

And the way in which he used his body to create that perfection was equally amazing. The second time he sang the chorus you visibly see him take a huge breath at the onset and then as he reaches the end he raises his arms which in turn lifts his lungs up from his diaphragm, creating more space. This is a technique practiced by only the best vocalists. Bow to the master we all must. :-)
