Dean Ernest J. Wilson III, communication professor Christopher Holmes Smith and journalism professor Gabriel Kahn welcome USC Annenberg's 2011 Economist in Residence David C. McCourt, CEO and Founder of Granahan McCourt Capital for a discussion on the challenges and opportunities created by the disruption of the traditional media industry's business models. Mr. McCourt has been at the forefront of change in the communications and media industries for over 25 years and has written cogent commentary on the impact of new technologies on consumer behavior, regulatory policy and legacy firm structure and strategy for a variety of leading periodicals, including The Wall Street Journal and Financial Times. He is based in Princeton, N.J., and spends significant time in Europe, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles, Calif. M{2e} is a USC Annenberg initiative designed to spark innovation in media industries by increasing our understanding of how economics impacts communication and journalism.
