We draft alot due to the lack of hydrants or pressure. This vid shows a drafting exercise from a ground well. The wells are basically a deep hole in the ground with a large pipe used to pull water (saltwater) from the water table.

  • I just noticed that you have packed you LDH accordian style. Why is that? Just curious because I've never seen LDH packed that way, only three inch or 2 1/2.

  • We packed it that way for a couple of reasons. that truck is temporarily parked outside and we get a lot of rain, also it doesn't fly off the truck when going down the road and lastly we were able to get more on that way

  • Did you have problems getting it to pack like that? It just seems like it would be a pain in the ass to do because the hose would fall over so much.

One more thing; How deep are these wells and how do you pull draft if they are more than 30 feet deep?

  • nah... packing isn't that bad just a little extra time consuming.... and the wells are no more than 15 feet... very shallow ground water here (coral island chain)

  • Try using a floting strainer and a lake. Be happy you have the plug because I have a tanker and WE DRAFT

  • We have those too. We draft from these and the ocean. I have even used a pool on a motel fire once. LOL

  • did you guys order the pump w/ corrosion resistant materials? i mean if your gonna be drafting salt water a lot, everything had better be stainless

  • same ... we have alot of support from the communtiy during one storage place fire .. ppl were filling tankers with their own pumps and from their pools ...and ponds, crazy.

  • Years ago we took part in a shuttle that used a sewage treatment plant for the supply.

  • Man we use what ever we need to use. One time at a fire we put a pordadable pump in a pond the guy owned to keep water going durring tanker shuttles.

  • Great video. Excellent footage. Try WD 40 on threads.
