@MissWanderlily All you really need to know is your majors and minors for those are the 2 main ones. Musical theory was made by one person and one person only. Johan Sebastien Bach was his name. And now were all expected to follow it. Thats living like a Nazi right there.

@MeistroMac91 I must say that I understand completely what you are meaning to describe, however I believe an equal amount of importance should be placed the learning of music theory. It is a universally accepted standard, and is a very nifty lesson to understand when playing or singing with a group, and even lonesome in order to accomplish the "sound" you wish to acquire.

I dont know when ppl are gonna realize that you dont need to dwell on musical theory to play music... Ill tell you what you do need though is very good timing to make your music actually make sense. Good timing is all you need, and thats it. When ever you play make sure you have a metronome or just tap your foot. Take it from me, a guy who learns by ear timing is all you need. Ive been noticing that ppl who are good at sheet music are sooo very sucky at performing. They forget about tempo.
