  • did someone hang them self because they were denied access for being drunk? why dont they allow drinking? is a religious commune or somethign?

  • No, its not religous. It's a practical measure to ensure the people on site get on with the neighbours. People always want to think the worst of those living in a non-traditional way so its about not giving them excuses. Alcohol can lead to rowdy behaviour and some previous sites have suffered by attracting alcoholics. I think its a smart decision and its a small price to pay for keeping it friendly and accessible.

  • what is the point of ECO village? Is it even legal ?

  • The police aren't interested in it untill the land owner has an evection notice--and they dont yet.

The idea of the project varies depending on who you speak to. The main motivations are: 1. to create a space where people can live without having to work in jobs that barely cover living costs...working just to get by is a terrible situation to be in 2. to demonstrate a more sustainable way of living that dosent degrade the environment and that puts more emphasis on people than growth.

  • However, the site is open and ideas for developing it are welcome from local people. The eco-village may have a limited lifetime but it is hoped that at a minimum the space can be put to community use rather than being turned into a housing project. They key philosophy of the camp is people controling there own destiny not leaving it to counsilors, mp's etc., The site has already been unused for many years.

  • This makes me so happy! I live in West London and we LOVE the Eco Village. A place of joy, of hope and a demonstration of what people can do when they work and support each other. Worth a visit if you haven't been there -- and if you live out of town, send them a postcard -- write to:

  • Hi Calvinjones,

Enjoyed your video's of Kew eco village. Can i ask you a technical question? What video camera or camera do you use as i use a canon camera Powershot A720IS with normal 640 res and want desperately to go up in res (but also want to be able to carry it in a pouch everywhere as i do now?

Also what editing software or hardware do you use?

I went to visit the village yesterday and really enjoyed it. Keep getting it out mainstream.

    thanks.

    fatherheart
