Even James Carr admitted that Roy Hamilton's 1969 cover rivaled his original. For my money, it's just as good. Whereas Carr was emotional from the start, Hamilton initially sings with his customary restraint and dignity, then gives way to an agony and shame of harrowing intensity. Recorded months before he died, this song is a haunting farewell from a still overlooked singer.
great version!

No it isn't a JOKE. It's a version of Dark End of the Street produced for the great Roy Hamilton by Chips Moman the co-writer of the song. Puh-leeese!
