The control system is excellent *if* you play it in a real cabinet. It does take a while to get used to it though and to resist the temptation to pull the canted lever towrds you joystick style when you're supposed to rotate it :-). Mame is pretty unlikely to do the controls justice.
...man, the days when you'd biff it like that with the crowd watching, and all the kids with their hawks and cabaleros shouting, "POSER!!!"

The arcade version had a unique joystick - it could only be rotated (with a button to punt)
It's not the easiest game to play.
