Love Bug Ch. 12
Jesse hadn't been at school for a few days and had not returned any of Pixie and Lokis calls. They both decided to give him space and try and continue through the week. School was finally over and they all met at the front of the school and drove the couple minutes to the outside mall district.
Pixie: Wow, is it a nice day or what?
Loki: Yeah. Let's just hope it doesn't turn on us and start raining.
Pixie: Jeez, lets hope not mister positive!
Kevin: okay Pixie. Joe and I will go buy you some clothes and meet you in front of Dolly Rocker in an hour?
Pixie: sounds good.
Loki: I'll go buy your makeup. Before anyone says anything, two words: Older Sister.
Pixie: Haha okay. *turned to nick as everyone walked away* I guess that leaves just you and me.
Nick: Want help with shoes? I'm a pro at shoe shopping.
Pixie: I think I'd like to eat something first *her stomach growled louder than the murmurs of the passer-bys*
Nick: Okay, how does ice cream sound?
Pixie: AMAZING!
The two walked to an ice cream shop and ordered chocolate chip cookie dough in a cone each. They began to walk around the shopping center, enjoying the beautiful weather.
Pixie: So what are you wearing to the party?
Nick: Uhh whatever. We've got a lot to choose from
Pixie: I'm really nervous
Nick: Why?
Pixie: Not a day in my life had I ever dressed like a girl. For my mothers memorial a few years ago I wore a black dress with black converse. Boy, did I get weird looks. I just don't know how to be pretty.
Nick: I think you're doing a pretty good job of it.
Pixie: *blushed* what- did you say?
Nick: I just mean you don't look bad Lowe- for one of the dudes.
Pixie: *looked down in dissapointment* Oh.
Nick: Well, uhm, I mean you know what I mean.
Pixie: I'm gonna go with yeah even though I don't. It's okay. The only person who's ever called me beautiful was Jesse, once I think in the moment back when we had a short-lived thing, and my Dad.
Nick: Really?
Pixie: Yeah. I've never really been called those kinds of names. I'm always the tomboy and the ugly duckling.
Nick: Well, rest assured you are no ugly duckling.
Pixie: *laughs nervously* Thanks...I guess.
As they were walking, their hands quickly came together by accident, due to the pace of their walking. They both looked at each other and spread apart more. There was silence in the air and the two didn't talk till they reached Dolly Rocker.
Nick: Look! There's Kevin and Joe.
The two boys came running over to them
Kevin: Well, Joe worked his magic and we met some girls to help us that were shopping in the store. We got you 5 new outfits. Pick one out you like and try it on.
Joe: My personal favorite is the purple dress. We even got you shoes to match them all.
Dolly Rocker was a clothing store that doubled as a beauty parlor. It was a modern salon where all the newest styles were exhibited. Loki took Pixie to the dressing room and once she had changed into her favorite outfit and shoes, He did her makeup. Then he lead her to the salon part of the shop and they chose a sweeping Jessica Alba look. They put some highlights in her hair. As those were setting, a group of nail artists gave her a dark black mani/pedi. With one sight of her, Loki exclaimed, "Perfect!"
Pixie walked out of the room slowly, and all three boys watched like a movie being played in slow motion. Their jaws dropped.
Joe: Wow.
Kevin: You look
Nick: Wow.
Pixie: *punched them all as she walked past* Shut up. Do I really look okay? I don't look stupid right?
Pixie was wearing a simple black cocktail dress with matching pumps. She wore a silver necklace that sparkled in the shop's lights to accompany, with a matching bracelet. Her hair, due to the highlights, was now a golden blonde with dark undertones. Everything about her was flawless. Classy and clean. She looked like a doll made specifically to resemble perfection.
Joe: Did we do good, or did we do good?
Loki: It's like queer eye for the straight guy- but only straight eye for the tomboy. *laughs*
Kevin: Pixie, you look amazing.
Pixie: Thanks
She stole a quick glance at nick, who had yet to say anything. Disappointed, she continued her conversation.
Pixie: How much do I owe you guys?
Kevin: Nothing, its on us.
Pixie: oh I couldn't!
Joe: If you don't take it we'll feel disobliged. Take it or we aren't your friends anymore.
Loki: I'd just take it while they say you can Pixie. Haha.
Pixie: Thank you so much you guys. This means the world to me!!
Everyone headed back to the car, since it was getting late. Kevin drove and Joe called shotgun. Loki followed helplessly behind and Pixie stayed to gather the stuff. Nick, who had been sitting the whole time, taking her in, pulled her arm toward him and stood with her, face to face.
Nick: Pixie, you look beautiful.
