Argentina's economy 'on shaky ground' - 23 Jan 09

Argentina's economy is on shaky ground and a severe drought is adding to its financial woes.  High temperatures and a lack of rain are devastating agricultural output, the country's economic backbone.  Now, much of Argentina is in a state of emergency.

Al Jazeera's Lucia Newman reports from the Northeastern city of Santa Fe, one of the hardest hit areas in the country.

You should indicate the truly date of this facts. You show your videos about Argentina as if all that would happening right now, but most of this is from 10 years ago, when our economy just collapsed. We're not a perfect country (no one is) but we're much better than at that time. At 2002 we had an unemployment of 25%, now it's less than 8%. Our poverty was over 56% of the total population, now it's around 20/25% and we keep improving.

@sydneybb how do you say the Argentinians caused this drought how is that possible, I live in Canada greetings.... I was watching the videos about Argentina and then I watched on your economy as well and I watched the U.K. We are all facing the same issues around the world natural disasters coupled by economic recession and food hikes etc...global problem? Americans are thinking that there is a group that is behind the whole thing... are we not all victims or Americanization?

this is why so much of the world food prices is going up every where around the world because all sorts of natural disasters are happening back to back with recessions...The U.S is in the same messes as this country....We are in the end of times...Jesus is coming again soon

@ushuaia213 Tell us the good news! But it has to be what GOD has done to Argentina. What God takes away, he gives. Or is it the other way around? What god giveth, he taketh away? Anyway, tell us what good things GOD has recently done FOR Argentina. Or does GOD only do bad things, and MOTHER NATURE doesthe good things? Or is it the other way around. @ushuaia213 I agree. Why do they always show the BAD side. We AUstralians getthe same treatment all the time. It is not fair. And I hate it too. Just because the Argentinians CAUSED this drought is no excuse for reporting on the drought. Why don't they report the good news. Like how FAT The peole are, dispite the drought. Fat people are happy people. But I don't understand why happy fat people would make a drought that makes cows and plants die? I pray to god to destroy these fat people.
