A rule of thumb: The more the merrier. At least that is the case for this company.

The Kroger Co. has announced that their Tom Thumb division has acquired seven convenience stores from Schnucks Markets, Inc. The subsidiary's purchase of the stores, located in the Memphis area, will be managed under the new banner: Kwik Shop. Tom Thumb Food Stores presently operates 116 stores in Florida and Alabama. Van Tarver, vice president of convenience stores for Kroger stated, "We are pleased to enter this important market with our Kwik Shop convenience store banner," and continues "We will strive to operate stores staffed with great people who want to make your shopping experience as efficient and enjoyable as possible."
