Raise Awareness and Help End the Epidemic of Violence against Native Women in the U.S.—Please Share this Video from the Indian Law Resource Center

Native women are murdered at 10 times the national rate; 1 out 3 Native women will be raped in her lifetime, and 3 out of 5 physically assaulted.  Even worse, 88% of the perpetrators are non-Indian and cannot be prosecuted by tribal governments.  Stand and take action now to restore safety and justice for Native women.  Do Something!  Visit www.indianlaw.org.

A video poem made for the www.indianlaw.org. Written, performed and directed by Ryan Red Corn. The video was made in the hopes that lawmakers will take notice of the atrocious legal protection Indigenous women have. Call your leaders in Washington today and tell them to DO SOMETHING.

  • Shared on Twitter. Thank you 1491s for sharing the truth.

Who is protecting Native women? Apparently no one, because abuse of Native women is "epidemic". Deadly beatings, sexual assaults and stalking are perpetrated by mostly white men against Native women - those are the facts.

AND, this is not only happening in Indian Country; epidemic means nationwide.

Warriors, your charge is to stand up for women, and to protect them - will you answer the call?

  • bring back the long version

  • Thank you

  • This is great, but I'm missing the longer version :/

  • Wat bout the abused men?

  • Wado. You got it. Represent.

  • thanks for this vid. There are too many women native and non native a like that are subjected to such treatment. For someone who is someone's sister, mother, or daughter it happens too often with no one stepping out and doing something. I mean do something safely but do something. its time to air the dirty laundry that has been hidden for so long
