Just tried to put something together very brief to help some of you who have asked about the basics of getting started with vaulting your dogs. Remember always think of the dogs safety first and foremost.

  • Just start mixing in rollers to increase the distance then mix in longer throws. This almost always work.s

  • so... I can get my dog to put her front legs up on my leg, but she will still just push off the ground with her hind legs to get the frisbee (she's got springs for hind legs haha) How do I encourage her to actually use my leg as a platform?

  • @lthueson if your dog is old enough I would go to the standing up position then for example put her on your left side and lift your left leg with the heel of your left foot on your left knee to make a standing up higher platform for her and then start with either luring her with the disc or a treat or toy that you are holding up high enough in your right hand. But you might try to get around you and you might have to get up against a wall or fence or something.

  • Remember with vaults a lot of times dogs have to be taught and tricked at times to learn that the only way they are going to get the object they want is they have to use that vaulting platform whatever it might be. Some use the World Vault and some tap the disc where they want the dog to vault.

  • i have taught my dogs a lot of things first in a hallway where it is just me and them and no oyher distractions. bit be patient and when they finally do something correct reward them and be super happy

  • are you talking about the release of the disc from the human or the dog will not let go. one easy drill is to get in a hallway and make it where you dog cannot get around you and play with a ball and dont play keep away but wait it out and tell your dog drop.

  • my dog loves to jump after short throws on a frisbee but she is not aggressive on the longer ones, how do i encourage her to go after it

  • Amazing

  • great vid man nice progression ephasizing safety is a good thing

  • @GeorgiaIrish Jenna is a little over 1.5 years. She now vaults off my leg beautifully, and has recently learned how to 'scoot' and go into the leg vault. She caught on to that really fast. She will vault off my back now, and will jump up to to catch the frisbee now instead of just jumping up and straight down. So basically her only hindrance is ME, haha because I can't seem to get a good throw while crouched for her to vault. How do you do that?? Thanks for your videos! They're a great help.

  • So Im not the only one that names my dog after my favorite football team. Mine's "Philly."
