A musical portrait of composer/singer/dancer George M. Cohan. From his early days as a child-star in his family's vaudeville show up to the time of his comeback at which he received a medal from the president for his special contributions to the US, this is the life- story of George M. Cohan, who produced, directed, wrote and starred in his own musical shows for which he composed his famous songs.

The best trailer I've ever seen! Completely accurate to the movie itself, as few trailers were. Most spend their time, and hyperbole, praising the film, instead of showing clips from the movie itself! This is a wonderful, outstanding musical film, almost in a class by itself. Don't ever miss a chance to see it on the big screen! **** Leonard Maltin rating. Oscar for Cagney. Stirring, emotional music rarely found in a motion picutre. It doesn't get any better than this.
max steiner, hugo friedhoffer, ray heindorf , david buttolph and of course erich wolfgang korngold were great americans who made jack warner and his stars shine on eternally.
Boxingglove love wrote: The Warner Brothers orchestra kicked butt! Indeed it did but let's not forget the brilliant Ray Heindorf who arranged the numbers.
My favorite verse is at the end of the movie when Cagney plays Cohan playing FDR in "I'd Rather Be Right":
I can't forget how Lafayette Helped give us our first chance To win our fight for liberty And now they've taken France We'll take it back from Hitler And put ants in his "Japants"
And that's FOR the record!!
For 18 years, I lived 1-1/2 miles from where Lafayette joined Washington and the Continental Army near present-day Warminster, PA.
