These amazing people devote themselves to make sure your birth is the wonderful and beautiful experience it really should be. They help you prepare for the birth of your baby, then they are there to help you through labour and they are also there to help you in whatever way they can after your child is born. That could be giving useful advice on dealing with breastfeeding issues or it could simply be doing the shopping, cleaning or ironing! Doulas really are the most fabulous people and this film is a testament to their hard work and devotion!

Exciting! I don't quite know what she meant at the beginning though, what midwife would not be present for the birth of her own client???

@krjjohnson In the UK, National Health Service policy is that a community midwife will be present at the birth, but they can't guarantee a particular midwife due to shift changes. Of course things are usually different for private midwives, but there's nothing more unpredictable than childbirth! Hopefully this film will get across the constant state of readiness both midwives and doulas need to be in most of their working lives!
