@LAHrebirth you're totally failing the concept that kungfu is all about and what bruce lee taught. I.e you must ADAPT to your opponent
for example me, i'm a short asian, i can't just force my way aggressively against a huge white guy now can I?? i have to fight smart.
You're not, because you think all people are the same size. You're probably of a reasonable size and think EVERY user is the same which is WRONG

@iApna whats the point? depends what your motive or strategy is, for instance bruce lee uses his boxing shuffle to get ouf of the way yet he still blocks and parries
the blocks are incase you can't move out in time, you move away to conserve energy as the opponent wastes his, and thus allows you to move in
wing chun has two sides, depends HOW you use it. Even a HK movie "prodical son" teaches this" starring sammo hung
if you're strong you can force your way in, if not you must parry it

@iApna some people just want to block and dont want to fight

@iApna Thank You. This guy should be using a circular block to deflect the attack outside the centerline, not pushing it downwards in a way that only works if you step backwards out of the way. Weak instruction.

Whether or not you move back while doing the technique is not important. The key points that I believe Master Wong wants you to come away with, is blocking of course, but more importantly moving your body/feet freely and staying in the "Wing Chun position" with your enemy so you can counter attack more effectively.
