How do you UpSmash out of shield? Can you use the c-stick or do you have to use A.

It's like 10x easier to use the c-stick by pressing up on the control stick to jump and cancel the shield, and nearly at the same time but immediately after press up on the c-stick while in your shield to do the smash before leaving the ground from the jump.
