About five years ago I stumbled upon this monk's talks. How he speaks and teaches the pratical applications of Buddhism is what really brought me to this profound religion, a "religion" which I had earlier thought of as foreign and supersticious. I soon learned that the complete opposite was true, and to this day these very teachings help me through every aspect of my life... so, I thought I'd share this with everyone here in hopes that you might get something from it as well. :)

This particular teaching by Ajahn Brahmavamso is on the subject of 'loneliness'. There are many, many more topics that he has spoken about and can be found on www.bswa.org -- as well as the talks of many other insightful teachers.

I know this is a very long video, so it's probably best to do what I do: Have it playing in the background while you do something else (for example cleaning, exercising, playing video games, etc.) ;)

  • This man is a real deal, he speaks universal truth about life and death which is above any religion. Im impressed by his wisdom, kindness and compassion, This is how we should all behave and world would be a much better place.

  • can someone explain to me why is noneness good?

  • "How big a house do you need, have you asked that question?? A house which is made of wood, 6ft long, 2ft wide, maybe 1ft high, that's the house you're gonna end up in!" haha!

  • Another thing, I don't see how anyone with even a basic working knowledge of Budhism could possibly resent it or the people that practice it. It is the most peaceful, tolerant and compassionate belief system I've ever come across and it bears no prejudice against any race, creed or other religion.

  • I live in Perth and am lucky enough to be able to see Ajahn Brahm speak at the local Budhist centre on most Friday nights. I can tell you, he's even more inspirational in person then he is on video. I wouldn't call myself a Budhist yet, but in just a few weeks listening to him has changed my life for the better. The world would be a safer and more pleasant place if everyone followed Budhist teaching, even to a small degree.

  • What an amazing guy!!!

  • i m oneness............... now on

  • This Monk's talks have changed my life and have made me a much happier person than almost all the self-help books I've ever read. I want to meet him one day.

  • This is such a beautiful retreat center. I've always wanted to go to Buddha's society retreat center. I love the teachings they give. They're related to real life. The monk in the video gave a couple of talks on contentment and everything is good enough. There're really good. I also love the "CEO" monk, Ajahn Brahm, he's funny and insightful. One day I am gonna meet him in Sydney and donate to Buddha's society, where he teaches and not care about tax deduction. I am in the States now.
