@BalintawakApprentice I vote for that. John's a brilliant instructor. One is very fortunate if given chance to train with him. His understanding of Escrima and Balintawak is second to none.

thats some good stuff. Looks a little too technical for me though. Not sure if it would work under pressure. I am sure those guys could use whatever necessary at the time though. Good skills.

i was with john when this happened and it is exactly as youre last reply said was the hit should have broken johns leg with the power of the hit from above maxs shoulder john did not flinch , then john asked max to step out side the training area and take his turn and max declined and tried proceeded to pack up his sticks and gear to leave ,i beleive myself it was a strike done in anger more than anything else

I heard that john russell got his legs beat up in the Phillipines by a guy names Max Caballes. Any truth to that? I wonder if max knew clipping too?

You heard 1/2 the story mate. Max told John he could 100% knock him down with a strike to the legs. John Let him try. John (whilst still standing) licked his fingers rubbed his leg and said "Am I supposed to fall down and cry? Now It's my turn to show you how to knock someone down". Then a bunch of guys got in between them and out of respect for Nick Elizar John asked Max to step outside. Max refused. Thats the full story from John. You'll have to ask Max if he knows how to clip.

could we know the name of the Feeder chap ?? and which Balintawak lineage is this ?

Sorry PinutiKeris what do you mean by Feeder Chap? Regarding Lineage: John Russell is our head honcho. Studied thru Henry Jayme thru Teofilo Velez thru Timoteo Maranga. John has also trained under Raymond(Moonie)Velez and Celso Amora Mabalhin(Who trained under Anciong Bacon and Jesus Cui).
